I have direct billing agreements with the leading major medical insurance companies in Mexico. If your insurer is not on the list, we give you everything you need to file your reimbursement claim.

Insurance companies with direct billing

I have a direct billing agreement with the following major medical insurance companies. For surgeries and procedures covered by your policy, the insurer pays directly and you only pay your deductible and coinsurance, which depend on the policy you have.

The evaluation visit is paid on the day of your appointment (except with Sofía Salud), and you can request reimbursement from your insurer.

How to use your insurance with direct billing

  1. Let us know your insurance company when you book.
  2. The evaluation visit is paid on the day of your appointment (except with Sofía Salud).
  3. We give you the medical reports your insurer requires.
  4. Once your insurer approves the procedure and you have the necessary tests, we schedule it.
  5. You only pay your deductible and coinsurance. Your insurer pays the rest.

Other insurance companies: reimbursement

If your insurance company is not on the direct billing list, you can still use your insurance through reimbursement. I see patients insured with AXA, Mapfre, Plan Seguro, Seguros Banorte, HDI Seguros, Seguros SURA, Seguros Ve por Más and any other major medical insurance company.

Before your surgery or procedure we give you a quote, and afterwards everything you need to file your reimbursement claim:

  • Detailed quote for medical fees, hospital and, when applicable, the intraocular lens.
  • Invoices (CFDI) for medical fees.
  • Medical report and your insurer’s claim forms, completed by Dr. Diener.
  • Copies of test results and their interpretation requested by your insurer.

Frequently asked questions about health insurance

Which insurance companies does Dr. Sebastián Diener have direct billing with?

Allianz, Bupa, GNP Seguros, MetLife, Seguros Atlas, Seguros Inbursa, Seguros Monterrey New York Life, Sofía Salud and Zurich. With any other major medical insurance company, we work through reimbursement.

If my insurer has direct billing, how much do I pay?

Only your deductible and coinsurance. The amount depends on your policy; the insurer pays the rest directly.

What are the deductible and coinsurance?

The deductible is the fixed amount you pay at the start of each condition before your insurance begins to cover expenses. Coinsurance is the percentage of the remaining cost that you pay. Both are defined in your policy.

Does direct billing also apply to the consultation?

Direct billing applies to surgeries and procedures. The consultation is paid on the day of your appointment, and you can request reimbursement from your insurer. The exception is Sofía Salud, where the consultation is also covered by direct billing.

What if my insurance company is not on the list?

You can use reimbursement. We give you a detailed quote before the procedure and, afterwards, the invoices, medical report, your insurer’s forms and the test results you need to file your claim.

How long does reimbursement take?

It depends on each insurance company. We recommend checking the timelines and requirements of your policy with your insurer or agent.

Can I use my insurance for cataract surgery?

Many major medical policies cover cataract surgery, although some have waiting periods or specific conditions. Check your policy or message us and we will guide you.

Do I need to tell you that I have insurance?

Yes. Let us know your insurance company when you book your appointment so we can tell you whether direct billing or reimbursement applies.

Do you have direct billing with AXA?

AXA is not on the direct billing list. However, if you are an AXA policyholder, we can work by reimbursement: we provide the cost estimate, invoices, and medical report you need to file the reimbursement directly with your insurer.

Do you have direct billing with Mapfre?

Mapfre is also not on the direct billing list. As with other insurers outside the list, we work by reimbursement: we provide the cost estimate, invoices, and medical report so you can file the reimbursement with Mapfre.
